STATIONTOSTATION features fresh work by new and visiting Studio Art faculty in the School of Art and Design who are transitioning to or from life at Indiana University. Works in the show represent a wide range of schemes and methods in media including film, kinetic installation, painting, printmaking, design, and sculpture.
STATIONTOSTATION’s title is borrowed from the 1976 album by music icon, David Bowie. The album marked a major shift in musical style, mood, and persona for Bowie, a musician already known to be chameleonic. In this album, Bowie experimented with different kinds of atmospheric instrumentation and sound in a way that bridged his seemingly disparate work pre-dating and following the release of this record. This exhibition is not a thematic show, but STATIONTOSTATION provides a logic of organization, loosely tying together works of very different artists and designers.
